  • Inspecting or testing lines or cables to assess cable viability and locate faults or malfunctions
  • Using hand tools, epoxy, or mechanical equipment to splice cables
  • Reassembling machines after making repairs or replacing parts
  • Testing circuits and equipment components for pieces that are not working correctly

Career Options

Most Network Cable Installation graduates go to work for telecommunications companies that have extensive cable and fiber optic networks. Network cable installers typically work normal business hours but may have to be on call at night or over the weekend to make repairs for clients or to handle emergencies.

Before entering the program, students must:

  • Have strong math and reading skills.
